We had to make a technical illustration of something.. So I decided to do the Sagona boot with the Kizer suspension frame (for extra detail reasons). Yeah I know a lot of it isn't totally accurate and the text isn't totally correct. check it anyway

peep my project Illust

I made the skate in Illustrator and edited it in photoshop.

Damn Vince that's pretty sick!

I'm going to school for computer graphics right now, fun stuff. Aren't you a graphic designer or something like that?

Yes, I'm the graphic designer for the Indiana State Bar Association. I make all kinds of boring shit that no one would care to see, unless they are interested in things that are law related.

If you ever need any tips, just ask. I could literally teach a course on Illustrator. I work mostly in vector, but am equally comfortable in the pixel world, as well.

Really? That's awesome dude, I'm just starting out in Illustrator as it is, I'm a lot more comfortable with photoshop. I'll hit you up if I get stumped on something, thanks

So this is why you've been skipping out on skating lately, eric? To draw pictures of rollerblades? haha, at least it's related

Eric, you'll probably use skating as inspiration a lot, if you haven't already.

most of the art in my portfolio is rollerblading related: contest fliers, still lifes, self portraits, 2 magazine issues, and random fuck arounds. some is fine art, the rest is digital art.

i'd say that rollerblading kept me interested in art all these years, which is good because if not, i'd still be rotting away working at a stupid hotel making $9/hr and hating life in general. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Haha yeah sam.. I gotta dip out on the session again this week because that project along with another and a test are due tomorrow.. So yeah.

And Vince, I've been doing as much rollerblading related stuff as I can so far, I turned in a couple manipulations that were rolling related for the same class, so you're definitely right lol. It makes me actually want to do the work, so I can't compain

well, just make sure your professors don't think you are too focused on one thing. use skating related stuff as a fall back, but try to broaden your work to cover other things. it's good practice for real world experience, as 99.9% of the commissioned work you will do once you graduate will not be rollerblading related.

and look up Illustrator tutorials online. here are a few of my favorite sites:

http://vector.tutsplus.com/

and heres a great mini-chart for the Pen Tool:

wow thats some great stuff vince... i was goin into graphic design as well but went into mech engineering instead lol... anyway it just reminded me of our conversation the other day vince.. some of my stuff are here on www.krazyaznpen.deviantart.com ... but yes listen to vince, great work is not from one focus but a broad variety of ideas.... and from my experience just learn everythin art has to offer, not just digital but traditional stuff as well... i do alot of realism/still life/ portraits... im great in those area if you have any questions...
